If most people had a dollar for every time they left the dental office feeling guilty for not flossing more, they’d probably be rich. It is such a simple thing, we know it is good for our health, but somehow we just don’t get around to doing it as often as we should.

Here are some of the reasons we all need to make a promise to ourselves to start making the effort.

  1. Tightly spaced teeth can hide plaque making even the most avid tooth brushing ineffective.
  2. The space between your teeth, especially the molars, is where most people develop cavities.
  3. Flossing helps prevent gingivitis, or gum disease which can cause serious infections.
  4. It can remove a whole day worth of plaque, helping combat bad breath-making it the perfect compliment to brushing.
